Get to Know Ursula
Yoga teacher, holistic massage therapist, emotional release facilitator, keen meditator, Reiki practitioner, explorer and life lover – Ursula Griffiths was first introduced to yoga in school at 9 years old, where a spark of awe and inspiration was ignited. With thanks to the loving guidance of Ursula’s Mum - Carrie, yoga made a reappearance in Ursula’s life when she was 15. It was a time at which she had been facing a serve mental health issues. Yoga became the catalyst for recovery from eating disorders, anxiety, depression and CPTSD - it presented an empowering tool when all other therapies and medications had no meaningful impact. Through yoga, Ursula learnt to reconnect to her body that she had been destructing and disassociating from. Yoga is a science of transformation, and Ursula was experiencing firsthand a total shift in paradigm.
With deep gratitude for how this practice has impacted her own life, it’s been Ursula’s mission to share the positive and potent effects that yoga can have. This was the beginning of Ursula’s holistic journey and an unfolding of a deeper spiritual curiosity.
2019 marked the start of a 2 year, 500hr yoga teacher training with the British Wheel of Yoga. Since then, Ursula has been teaching from the heart in locations around the world. Back in 2023, Ursula sat her first 10- day silent Vipassana meditation course, a practice that has been of huge significance. To date, she has taken an additional 4 courses to explore and observe the mind in greater depth, with the aspiration to sit a 60-day course.
Furthermore, influenced by her mother's work as a chiropractor and having a keen interest of bodywork, Ursula trained as a Jing massage therapist. Weaving in her knowledge of the body through yoga, combined with the teaching of ‘listening touch’ and additional techniques such as trigger point therapy, myofascial and acupressure, make for a wonderfully dynamic and relaxing massage.
As an additional complementary modality, last year Ursula started training as an emotional release facilitator. This training was inspired by the desire to dive deeper into trauma and the root cause of emotional wounds and patterning of the mind. Through Ursula’s own personal experiences in yoga and by observing the experiences of others, she was noticing how common place it was for people to have some kind of emotional release during yoga class. Therefore, training in emotional release has supported and provided a greater sense of clarity to how emotions are processed and stored, which can be translated into both yoga and massage. Emotional release enables a smooth integration; ultimately coming to resolution and a deep feeling of harmony within the mind and body.
Beyond listing trainings and experiences, fundamentally what Ursula wishes to convey is the absolute necessity for love. Love for ourselves, love for one another, love for our planet. She hopes that through these offerings, we can all overcome our suffering and self-conjured limiting narratives. Hand in hand, may we walk one another home, closer and closer to the ultimate Truth, the ultimate Love. She wishes to dissolve the idea of facilitator and client, in the understanding that we all have something to learn from one another, we are all human and, in this humanity, we can connect, learn and love.
